Calm grooming for nervous dogs
Some dogs love being pampered. Others would rather be anywhere else. Both are welcome here.
Taken at your dog's pace
A dog who has had a bad experience, a rescue still finding their feet, a puppy meeting the dryer for the first time: they all need the same thing, which is time. Megan never rushes a worried dog, and she would rather finish a groom over two visits than push a dog past what they can manage.
-
Time to settle in
A sniff around and a fuss before anything starts.
-
Breaks when they need them
If your dog gets worried, we stop, reassure them and carry on when they are ready.
-
Quiet tools first
Scissors and a towel dry before clippers and the dryer, for dogs who dislike noise.
-
Shorter visits to start
A bath and brush is a gentle first step before a full groom.

Tell us about them when you book
What worries them, what helps, and anything that has gone wrong before. There is a box for notes when you book online.
-
A walk before you come
A dog who has been out and had a wee is calmer on the table.
-
A quick, cheerful handover
Long goodbyes tell a dog something is wrong. A pat and a happy "see you soon" works best.

Questions about nervous dogs
What if my dog really cannot cope?
We stop. We will ring you, tell you what has been done, and decide together whether to finish another day.
My dog has snapped at a groomer before. Should I tell you?
Yes, please. It is not a black mark: it helps us plan the groom so your dog never feels they need to.
Is there anything I can do at home?
Lots. Our guide to getting a nervous dog ready for their first groom has simple things to practise.
Would you like a chat first?
Tell us about your dog and we will suggest the best way to start.
